The Best Bike Tour in Oslo

Since we started up 12 years ago, Viking Biking & Hiking has consistently been top rated on Viator, Tripadvisor and Google Reviews. Oslo Highlights is our first and still one of our most popular tours alongside the Island Hopping tour. We’ve had a good bit of time honing our craft and if you were wondering whether to book our tour, let me take you on a quick version of our Oslo bike tour to try to convince you!

The city sights

On our regular public bike tour Oslo Highlights, we explain and explore the history of the Akershus Fortress and the dramatic sieges and prison breaks that happened there! There is also time to walk the walls of the fortress that look over the city and the Oslofjord, providing one of the best views of Oslo from the city center.

Afterwards, we proceed to the City hall, a building that many often skip over if they’re not the biggest fan of the outside. But it’s well worth visiting as the inside is covered with impressive murals telling the story of Norway, representing different aspects of its history, especially the lives of regular citizens and farmers. 25 skilled artists collaborated on the decoration of the building from murals to bronze sculptures to wooden carvings.

The Royal Palace is a popular spot on our Oslo tours as we explain all about what role the royal family has, their history, their drama and we take pictures with the royal guards. We then bike through the Royal Palace Park and the gorgeous neighborhood of Frogner with all its neoclassical townhouses and embassies on our way to the Vigeland Sculpture Park.

The Vigeland Sculpture Park is to me the most “Must-see” place in Oslo. It’s like a huge sculpture park from France or Florence was teleported directly into the city. Words really can’t convey the park itself, but suffice to say, after having been to the park over 1000 times on tour and with friends, it never ever gets old and the art always leaves you with something when you leave.

Lastly on our Oslo tour we visit the harbor. Aker Brygge is incredible, considering how modern and popular it has become, a far cry from the busy shipyards that were there before, even as recently as the early 80s. As we bike through, you can see sculptures, art galleries, restaurants and floating saunas! Then as we return from our Oslo bike tour we give recommendations for where to go eat, sightsee, hike, museums to visit, good bars and whatever else the tour group wants to know.

After the tour is done, the people who want to see more can get an Oslo bike rental with a lock and helmet included and tips from us on where they can go, because there is so much more to see! If this sounds at all interesting, browse our tours, see if anything catches your fancy and book a public or private Oslo tour and we will show you what a fantastic city Oslo is. For anyone who wants to truly experience Norway bike tours will let you see so much more, so much faster.
