Crappy weather? Here’s Why our Tours in Oslo Are Still Worth It
Oslo is a beautiful city, squeezed in between the hills behind it and the fjord. Buildings from as far back as the 1300s and before all the way up until the high-end apartments along the harborside today. Joining an Oslo tour is probably the best way to see the town, learn about it and get a lay of the land before exploring it on your own. Now, I won’t deny that doing a tour in the brilliant sunshine is a joy, but there are many reasons why doing the Oslo tour in “bad” weather is worth it, and sometimes, even preferable. But as we say here in Norway: “There’s no bad weather, only bad clothes!”
Say you’ve booked an Oslo bike tour or an Oslo walking tour, you look at the weather forecast, and it’s gonna rain. The 24 hour free cancellation window has passed and you have a choice to make: Do the Oslo tour anyway, or say screw it and accept the lost money. If this is the middle of summer, do the Oslo tour anyway. No matter how bad it rains, the summer weather in Norway is always mild and you’ll get a bit wet at worst, but you won’t get cold as long as you have just a rain jacket on or a poncho. We also sell rain ponchos for cheap if you’ve got no rain clothes of your own. On the plus side, there will be far fewer people out and about on a rainy day, so you’ll have less traffic to deal with. As for the car traffic, Oslo is a very safe city to do an Oslo walking tour or Oslo bike tour in, as the streets are wide, public transport is popular and the car traffic usually goes around the city on the ring roads or through tunnels under the city.
Now if it’s anytime between September and May, doing and Oslo tour will be a little chillier in the air at the very least, but since it’s low season, you might be able to get your tour moved to a different day if you give us a call! We’ll try our best to find an alternative for you. Though if you do still join the Oslo Highlights bike tour, we may very well nix a stop to make time for a cafe stop if the weather is really rough. If you’re on the Island Hopping Oslo walking tour, we spend a fair bit of time on the ferries, which will give you some time to warm back up between islands. And if you’re doing a Oslo winter tour, well then any rainfall would be more than welcome as it’s likely to come down as snow, giving you a completely unique and unforgettable winter wonderland Oslo tour!
