The Day’s Activities
Departing from downtown Oslo, enjoy a scenic metro ride up into the surrounding hills and step into Oslo’s urban forest for a half-day public nature walk from forest to fjord. Wander peaceful woodland trails to Øvresetertjern, a hidden lake tucked among tall pines, and enjoy the calm beauty of Norway’s forests. As you continue toward Frognerseteren, pass by the Roseslottet (Rose Castle) art installation, a striking World War II memorial reflecting freedom and resilience. At Frognerseteren, explore the Friluftssenter, a historic farm turned hub for Norwegian outdoor culture, and take a break at the Frognerseteren Lodge, savoring traditional homemade snacks from the café and bakery. From there, follow some of Oslo’s most famous cross-country ski and hiking trails down through the forest to Holmenkollen Hikers Chapel and onward to the world-famous Holmenkollen Ski Jump and Olympic training grounds. The tour officially ends at Holmenkollen, and you may return to downtown Oslo with your guide via a scenic metro ride, or remain and explore independently — go up the ski jump, visit the ski museum , or try the zip-line on your own. This Oslo forest hike public tour blends gentle exercise, Norwegian culture, and stunning fjord views — a memorable experience for nature lovers, families, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape into Oslo’s wilderness.
