Group Tours vs Private Tours: Which Should You Choose?

So you’re planning to go on an Oslo guided tour? There is so much to see and learn, but first, we need to pick a tour.

Public tours

First we have our Oslo bike tour, Oslo Highlights, then our Oslo walking tour, Oslo Nature Walks: Island Hopping.

These tours are perfect for anyone who wants to see the tour with a group of adventurers like yourself, these are the Oslo tours for you. Our guides always make our Oslo guided tours fun and there’s always a friendly atmosphere. We even had two tourists meet on our tour and later become married! Part of the fun of public tours is to hear what the group is curious about as we get questions about all the fascinating sites we see on the Oslo tour. Public Oslo walking tours and Oslo bike tours are also great for those who may prefer to hide in the crowd and just enjoy the tour without having to interact with the guide much, though, of course, you can if you want to!

Oslo Highlights is a guided Oslo cycling tour of the downtown of Oslo and the Vigeland sculpture park. The tour goes through the historical Akershus Fortress, from all the way back in the 1290s and past the fascinating Oslo city hall. Afterwards, the Oslo bike tour continues along the Karl Johan main street to the royal palace, where we stop to talk about the royalty of Norway. Then, we take our Oslo tour through the palace gardens, through the gorgeous neo-classical neighborhood of Frogner to the Vigeland Sculpture park. This is one of the best sculpture parks in the world. There’s no way to illustrate this to you than to see it with your own eyes. After this, the Oslo bike tour continues to its final destination, the harbor Aker Brygge, where the shipyards were back in the 18 and 1900s.

This is a great cycling tour Norway to get an overview of the city and takes only 3 hours, making it easier to fit into an itinerary. It leaves at 10am every day and at 11am and 2pm in the summer.

The Oslo Nature Walks: Island Hopping tour is a very relaxing Oslo tour. We start at the harbor and make our way to 2 or 3 islands in the Oslo fjord, depending on the season. We explore the historical sites of the islands, walking through gorgeous nature as we go and even past many iconic Norwegian wooden cabins, talking about Norwegian history and culture as we go.

This is an Oslo walking tour for those who would rather explore by foot and move more slowly. Norway is a beautiful place, no matter the season, and this tour perfectly illustrates that. The Oslo Island Hopping tour leaves every day at 10am, as well as around 1pm in the summer.

Private tours

Booking a Oslo private tour gives you and your party full freedom and flexibility. You can let us pick a tour for you from the tours I described above, or any that are listed on our website, or make a custom-made one based on your preferences. You can even add food stops on the way! The tour will be for you only, letting you spend as much time sightseeing or chatting with the guide and learning about Norway as you want. There are many fascinating and beautiful parts of Oslo that we don’t get to see on our public Oslo tours, but a private tour lets you include any stops you want.

Whatever you choose, we can guarantee you’ll see some of the best Oslo has to offer. See you on tour!
